Barebyte Content OS
Developer: Barebyte · Type: desktop tool, operated by Barebyte only
What it is. Barebyte Content OS is the private tool Barebyte uses to turn gameplay
of its own games into short videos and to publish them to Barebyte's own YouTube channel,
@barebytegamestu. It runs on Barebyte's own
computer. It is not a public service: there is no sign-up, no account system and no other user.
What it does
- Records gameplay of Barebyte's own games, finds the short moments worth showing, and renders
them into vertical videos with a short caption.
- Checks every video against fixed rules before it can be published: its rights (footage and
every asset in it must have recorded, accepted rights), its wording, and its technical quality.
- Publishes a video to YouTube only after a person at Barebyte has approved that
specific video, its title, its description and its privacy setting.
How it uses YouTube
Barebyte Content OS uses the YouTube API Services, with the permission of the
Google account that manages the Barebyte channel. It uses them to:
- upload an approved video to the Barebyte channel, with the approved title,
description and privacy setting;
- confirm the channel it is connected to is Barebyte's, before any upload;
- read back each uploaded video — its title, description, privacy setting and
processing status — to confirm it arrived exactly as approved, and to avoid uploading the same
video twice.
It does not read comments, subscribers, viewing history, analytics or any other channel's data,
and it does not change or delete videos.
How it uses TikTok
Barebyte Content OS is being connected to the TikTok API for Business (Accounts API),
with the permission of Barebyte's own TikTok account. Once connected, it will use it to:
- confirm the account it is connected to is Barebyte's, before any post;
- publish a video a person at Barebyte has approved, with the approved caption,
as a public post on that account;
- read back the post's publishing status and the post itself, to confirm it
arrived as approved and to avoid posting the same video twice.
